Seven to 10 Days Prior to Your Procedure
A Pre-Admission nurse will call you at a scheduled time seven to 10 days before your procedure to provide you with instructions and obtain admission information. This call will take about 15 minutes. Feel free to ask the nurse any questions about your procedure.
Be prepared to answer questions about your medical history, allergies, current prescriptions, over-the-counter medications and herbal supplements with the dosages and schedules of each. You will need to stop taking any herbal medicines two weeks before the procedure. You may not consider herbal supplements medication, but it is important for your health care providers to know about your use of herbals in order to provide you with the best care possible.
The Day Before Your Procedure
You will receive a second call the day before your procedure to confirm your procedure and admission times. You will be asked to arrive one to two hours before your procedure is scheduled to begin. You can ask any further questions about your procedure during this call.
